Race Day At McLarty MX Park
Whether you are racing or you have driven over to watch somebody else race, this is the shape of a race day at the park.
Gates And Sign-In
Gate times are posted with each event on the schedule, because they vary with the series running that weekend. Whatever the time, the routine is the same: come to the tower, sign in, tell us what you are riding, and we will point you at the right class. Riders under 18 need a parent or legal guardian signature at the tower in person.
Race day entry and class fees depend on the series. The exact numbers for a given weekend are posted with that event rather than being one fixed price.
The Classes
A race day runs classes from Mini E and 51cc through 65, 85, Supermini, Schoolboy, Girls, Women, 250, Open and College Boy, plus the 25, 35 and 45 plus classes. American Heroes is free to all first responders and all service men and women. The exact list for any weekend depends on the series.
You will see four year olds on 50s and forty five year olds on 450s in the same pits. That is normal here.
The Track Through The Day
The track is watered and ripped before gates open, and on race days it gets worked between sessions. Combined with a surface that actually holds moisture, that means the last race of the day is run on something close to what the first one had.
For Spectators
The layout sits in an open field, so from most spots in the pits you can watch about seventy percent of the track. If you have come to watch your kid ride, you will not lose sight of them behind a treeline for half the lap.
Bring a chair. Bring a canopy if it is hot - shade is limited. Spectator admission is set per event, so ask at the gate, or call ahead if you are bringing a group.
Making A Weekend Of It
Camping is welcome and plenty of racers come in the night before, get set up, and are signed in before gates rather than driving at daybreak. Front row RV spots with power and water hookups can be reserved by text.

Nothing about a first visit here is complicated, but it helps to know how the day runs before you are standing at the gate with the truck still hooked up.
What To Bring To A Motocross Practice Day
A practice day is a long day. This is the list that keeps it from being cut short by something you could have thrown in the truck.
