What Makes This Track Different

Sandy loam is the whole point. It drains after a shower, it takes a rip, and it gives you grip where you expect to be sliding. That is why riders trailer past closer tracks to get here.

Directions

How Far Is It From Hoover?

Solid day-trip territory. Plenty of riders in Jefferson County do exactly that: out in the morning, home that night.

Set your GPS to 4015 County Highway 35, Horton, AL 35980 and it will bring you straight to the gate. From Hoover you are heading generally northeast.

On The Gate

Racers, Families And First-Timers

Bring the family. From most spots in the pits you can watch something like seventy percent of the track, which is exactly what a parent wants when their nine year old is out there.

Two Separate Tracks

Both tracks were rebuilt and upgraded in 2022, and both get worked on between every event.

Prepped Before You Roll In

The track is watered and ripped before gates open, and it gets worked through the day on race days.

You Can See The Whole Thing

The layout sits in an open field, so from most spots in the pits you can watch about 70 percent of the track. Parents love it.

Questions From Hoover Riders

How far is McLarty MX Park from Hoover, AL?

The park is at 4015 County Highway 35 in Horton, Alabama, roughly 59 miles southwest of Hoover in a straight line. Because of the river and the lake, the road route can be noticeably longer - the map on this page shows the real driving distance and time from Hoover.

Is there a motocross track near Hoover?

McLarty MX Park is the one most Hoover riders end up at. It is an easy day trip away in Horton, with two prepped sandy loam tracks and announced race and practice days.

Can spectators see the whole track?

Just about. The track sits in an open field, so from most spots in the pits you can see around seventy percent of the layout.

Can I camp at the track?

Yes. Camping is welcome with no ground fires anywhere on the property. Front row RV spots with power and water hookups can be reserved by text.

What happens if it rains?

Sandy loam drains well, so light rain often does not stop us. If weather does force a change, we post it at the top of every page on this website and on our Facebook page.

Do I need to sign up before I come?

No. There is no membership and no pre-registration. Sign in at the tower when you arrive and pay at the gate. Riders under 18 need a parent or legal guardian signature.
