On The Gate

Racers, Families And First-Timers

Whether you are chasing series points or just want your kid to get comfortable on dirt somewhere safer than a pasture, there is a spot here for you.

Two Separate Tracks

Both tracks were rebuilt and upgraded in 2022, and both get worked on between every event.

Prepped Before You Roll In

The track is watered and ripped before gates open, and it gets worked through the day on race days.

You Can See The Whole Thing

The layout sits in an open field, so from most spots in the pits you can watch about 70 percent of the track. Parents love it.

The Surface

Sandy Loam, Not A Dust Bowl

We prep before you roll in and keep working it through a race day. Combined with a surface that actually holds moisture, that means the track you ride at four o clock still resembles the one you rode at ten.

Questions From Bessemer Riders

How far is McLarty MX Park from Bessemer, AL?

The park is at 4015 County Highway 35 in Horton, Alabama, roughly 63 miles southwest of Bessemer in a straight line. Because of the river and the lake, the road route can be noticeably longer - the map on this page shows the real driving distance and time from Bessemer.

Is there a motocross track near Bessemer?

McLarty MX Park is the one most Bessemer riders end up at. It is an easy day trip away in Horton, with two prepped sandy loam tracks and announced race and practice days.

What happens if it rains?

Sandy loam drains well, so light rain often does not stop us. If weather does force a change, we post it at the top of every page on this website and on our Facebook page.

Do I need to sign up before I come?

No. There is no membership and no pre-registration. Sign in at the tower when you arrive and pay at the gate. Riders under 18 need a parent or legal guardian signature.

What kind of dirt is the track?

Sandy loam - Alabama red clay mixed with our own blend of wood shavings. It holds moisture, keeps traction, and stops the track turning into a dust bowl.

What classes do you run?

Mini E and 51cc through 65, 85, Supermini, Schoolboy, Girls, Women, 250, Open, College Boy and the 25, 35 and 45 plus classes. The exact list for a given weekend depends on the series running.
