The Surface

Sandy Loam, Not A Dust Bowl

Most Southeastern tracks pick one problem: dust by noon, or hardpack by afternoon. The blend here does neither. The shavings hold water, the clay holds shape, and the track keeps its character right through the last session.

Planning The Trip From Cleveland

This is a short enough hop that you do not need to plan a weekend around it. From Cleveland you can be on the track not long after you decide to go.

Set your GPS to 4015 County Highway 35, Horton, AL 35980 and it will bring you straight to the gate. From Cleveland you are heading generally northeast.

On The Gate

Racers, Families And First-Timers

Whether you are chasing series points or just want your kid to get comfortable on dirt somewhere safer than a pasture, there is a spot here for you.

Two Separate Tracks

Both tracks were rebuilt and upgraded in 2022, and both get worked on between every event.

Prepped Before You Roll In

The track is watered and ripped before gates open, and it gets worked through the day on race days.

You Can See The Whole Thing

The layout sits in an open field, so from most spots in the pits you can watch about 70 percent of the track. Parents love it.

How A Day Here Works

Look at the schedule, then load the bike. Riders sign in at the tower when they arrive and pay at the gate - under 18 needs a parent or legal guardian signature.

Questions From Cleveland Riders

How far is McLarty MX Park from Cleveland, AL?

The park is at 4015 County Highway 35 in Horton, Alabama, roughly 16 miles southwest of Cleveland in a straight line. Because of the river and the lake, the road route can be noticeably longer - the map on this page shows the real driving distance and time from Cleveland.

Is there a motocross track near Cleveland?

McLarty MX Park is the one most Cleveland riders end up at. It is a short hop away in Horton, with two prepped sandy loam tracks and announced race and practice days.

What kind of dirt is the track?

Sandy loam - Alabama red clay mixed with our own blend of wood shavings. It holds moisture, keeps traction, and stops the track turning into a dust bowl.

What classes do you run?

Mini E and 51cc through 65, 85, Supermini, Schoolboy, Girls, Women, 250, Open, College Boy and the 25, 35 and 45 plus classes. The exact list for a given weekend depends on the series running.

Is the park open every weekend?

No. We open on announced dates only. Check the schedule page before you load up - it lists every date we have on the books along with any weather notices.

Are pit bikes allowed?

No. Pit bike riding is not permitted anywhere on the property. That rule gets enforced.
